For 25 years Laura Cockerille Giannini was an animal portrait & landscape artist (see Biography link) in Virginia who specialized in customized paintings of dearly loved family pets. Laura changed careers mid-life after a series of kismetic events unfolded themselves in the fall of 2001, as she & her husband, Pete, traveled these haunting Southwest lands, resulting in a story that fairly demanded to be shared (see The Book link). After spending 6 months literally untangling from Arizona law – proving this wild desert pup was indeed theirs – she then spent 3-½ years writing & illustrating The Kokopelli Journals, “A Southwest (mis)Adventure of Discovery, Compassion, Empowerment… & Mischief.” (She called those years: “Climbing the glass mountain.”) Not willing to wait for the potentially indefinite agent/publisher process (impatient Aries that she is), Laura then set up her own publishing company – “Wild West Woman” Publications, LLC – and has not looked back. Her first book has been very well-received (see the Testimonials link) by a wide array of readers.
